Fingers crossed

My garden has been in for a couple of weeks, tomatoes, peppers (hot and bell) and cucumbers. I put in a little extra effort and put down a weed barrier and larger tomato cages. So far all of the plants are growing like they're on crack. I will track the progress with pictures and tomato poundage somewhere on the site.

About the only thing any "protected from rabbits" space we have will grow is rocks. Well, at least it seems that way. The back yard has The Boys, who defend their space vigorously. The rabbits who roam this neck of the woods sit right outside the fence munching happily on whatever while The Boys bark their silly heads off... *sigh* And the back yard... really. Every spring we collect enough rocks that've been frost heaved to have collected enough for a wall on the north side of our property by now... I've thought about laying down landscape fabric and adding a few feet of topsoil in the back (ground slopes away pretty well), just to see if I can miss out on a few years of rock collection... *sigh*

Enjoy your tomatoes.

:-)

(Still, I do have some anasazi beans started in pots on the deck. I guess I could grow tomatoes and other crops that way, too.)

My compost pile is surrounded by the rocks collected from the yard. I feel your pain.
